Annual celebration of the new harvest
10 courses | 18 wines
At the end of each vintage it is the Lowe tradition to host a party, reflecting on the harvest just in while checking out what shape previous vintages are in.
That takes time, at least four hours to work through 10 courses paired with eighteen Lowe wines.
The year's vintage crew join the table - pouring wine, dining and in the lead up contributing ideas to the menu and the wine matches. The punishment for being too clever and opinionated is having to prepare one of the courses. The food is in the classic Lowe tradition of local, rustic shared platters.
David hosts the party, of course. He checks out the museum cellar for weeks prior, carefully tasting his way through the last 13 vintages to ensure only the best gets served. His ladder, spanner and soap box will be specially dusted off for the occasion.
